The Human Rights Council approved “The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” with resolution 17/4 on June 16th 2011.
Ten years after their proclamation, the respect for human dignity, first consecrated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights , adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948, and then in numerous instruments that have followed, since the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966, as well as in many articles adopted by the State Constitutions, it is a principle that, despite the solemn proclamations, is continously debated.
These issues, in particular the application of human rights, is one of UNESCO’s priorities and will be the subject of a specific webinar which includes among the speakers, Annateresa Rondinella, as representative of our UNESCO Chair.
